India Launches Operation Amistad, Sends Humanitarian Aid and Medical Team to Earthquake-Hit Venezuela

India has launched Operation Amistad to assist earthquake-hit Venezuela with urgent humanitarian aid. Two Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft are transporting an Indian Army Field Hospital Unit, more than 35 tonnes of relief supplies, medicines, medical equipment, and two BHISHM Cubes, reaffirming India's commitment to supporting Venezuela during the disaster.

 

India has launched Operation Amistad to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Venezuela following the devastating earthquake that struck the country. Announcing the initiative, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said two Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft have departed for Venezuela carrying critical relief material and medical support. The term "Amistad" translates to "Friendship" in Spanish, reflecting India's commitment to standing with Venezuela during the crisis.

In a post on social media, Dr. Jaishankar stated that the humanitarian mission includes an Indian Army Field Hospital Unit along with more than 35 tonnes of relief supplies, medicines, and medical equipment. The assistance also includes two BHISHM Cubes, designed to strengthen emergency medical response and disaster relief operations.

The External Affairs Minister reaffirmed that India remains committed to supporting the Government and the people of Venezuela during this difficult period.
